All of the gay-exclusive choices for accommodation are to be found in the south of the island, in the resorts of Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles.
Where the beach and sand dunes start in Maspalomas you'll find the hotels and complexes there are very gay-friendly and in Playa del Ingles where the Yumbo Center is located (home to almost all of the gay bars, restaurants, clubs and shops) any hotel or complex close-by is also gay-friendly.
The obvious advantage of staying in a gay-exclusive complex is the atmosphere, all the other guests bieng gay the complex then becomes clothing-optional, you can relax with your partner, your only concern about other guests looking is if they are cruising you!
Another is gay-exclusive complexes are generally furnished and maintained to a much higher standard than those of their mainstream counterparts and also include extras such as gay porn channels, jacuzzi by the pool and one complex even has a dedicated cruising area of their garden sectioned off for extra privacy!
Occasionally there are pool-parties organised and the pool area opens up for non-residents during the day adding extra atmosphere. Another advantage (for most) of course is no children.
All these extra touches in a small complex cost the management so the prices can be higher than the mainstream options.
"Gay-friendly" complexes are often larger and can offer facilities the gay choices don't such as a sauna, spa or fully-equipped gym. If you want 4-star luxury or more, I can only think of one small gay-exclusive choice whilst there are a dozen or more very large gay-friendly and luxury hotels.
The last big advantage can often be price, especially in the months that families don't travel such as May (gay pride!), June, September and early October. The mainstream hotels drop their prices considerably and often have some great special offers.

The most luxurious of all the gay-exclusive resorts on the island, this small and peacefull resort is surrounded by tropical gardens and just five-minutes walk into the main center and nightlife of Playa del Ingles.

Complex of 32 modern bungalows just 5 minutes walk to the Yumbo center and nightlife and 10 minutes walk to the beginning of Playa del Ingles beach.
Gay-Friendly Accommodation
As mentioned above, some of the more mainstream accommodation can often work out cheaper for you or offer you better services and standards in some cases over gay-exclusive options. Additionally, if you've left it late to book and all the gay-exclusives are full, don't panic as this only means there's a higher percentage of gay clients in the other properties than normal.
La Residence - Playa del Ingles
With only 6 apartments (each individually furnished to a very high standard) each with a private sun terrace, La Residence is a small and cosy in a very quiet cul-de-sac yet little more than a 5-minute walk to the main center/nightlife of Playa del Ingles.
Los Almendros - Playa del Ingles
A complex of 33 bungalows, private and exclusive for the gay and lesbian community, offering high quality accommodation just a ten minute stroll from the Yumbo center and nightlife in one direction & the begnning of the sand dunes that eventually lead you to the gay beach in the other.
Pasion Tropical - San Agustin
Located right at the side of the Atlantic ocean, where you can "really hear the sound of the sea", away from the concrete jungle of Playa del Ingles city centre, but still only 5 minutes away from it all by taxi!
Tropical La Zona - Playa del Ingles
Beautifully kept complex of Canarian style white-stone duplexes with lawns, less than 10 minutes walk from the Yubo center in one direction and Playa del Ingles beach in the other.
